PMC vs SCAV
The PMC risks your own gear and pushes the campaign; the SCAV runs on its own, with a free kit, on a daily time budget.
AURORA has two operators. They run in parallel and serve different goals.
PMC: your operator
- Uses your own gear and is the one who pushes the campaign (stages and worlds).
- Only the PMC earns world mastery.
- Only the PMC finds Aurora Tokens: in about 3% of extractions, plus 1 for the first clear of each world. Tokens the PMC is carrying are lost on death.
- On death, the kit stays behind. The secure container is kept, and insured gear comes back after 4 hours (see Insurance and saved kits).
- Offline, a raid in progress resolves when you come back, but no new PMC raids start while you are away.
SCAV: the automatic scavenger
- It is automatic only: there are no manual SCAV raids.
- It uses its own free kit, rolled for every raid. The kit improves with PMC level: from level 10, 10% of rolls get +1 rarity; from level 20, 18% get up to +2.
- It works inside a daily budget of 5, 8 or 12 hours (your choice). Only time spent in raids counts, offline included, and the budget renews at local midnight. There is no cooldown between raids.
- While the game is closed it keeps going for up to 12 hours per absence.
- It brings back only the loot it found: no FIR, no shared XP and no campaign progress. Returns wait in a depot until you collect them into your stash.
- If the SCAV dies, that raid’s finds are lost — but the kit was free.
Summary
| PMC | SCAV | |
|---|---|---|
| Gear | Yours | Free rolled kit |
| Campaign and mastery | Yes | No |
| FIR loot | Yes | No |
| On death | Loses the kit (except secure container and insured items) | Loses that raid’s finds |
| Offline | Resolves the raid in progress | Up to 12 h, inside the budget |
Tip: let the SCAV bring back materials while the PMC repeats stages you have already mastered.
